SPRAY INSTRUCTIONS
1. After completing the Start-Up Instructions listed previously, the next
step will depend on the distance of the pump to the Sprayer.
2. If the pump is close to the Sprayer – hold the Straight Shot Nozzle
into the Hopper and open the 3/4” Ball Valve fluid line) on the
Straight Shot Nozzle. Adjust the Main Air Regulator until the Pump
strokes slowly and material is exiting the tip. The Sprayer then needs
to adjust the Needle Valve on the Shutdown Device while the
Machine Mechanic adjusts the Main Air Regulator until the desired
spray pattern is reached. Different materials may require different
pump pressures; normal inbound air pressure range is between 20 –
50 psi. The atomization quality of the sprayed material is controlled
by the balance of pressure between the Shutdown Device Needle
Valve and the Main Air Regulator. A finer finish can be achieved by
increasing the Shutdown Device Needle Valve pressure and
reducing the Main Air Pressure Regulator and visa versa. Once a
desirable spray pattern is achieved, the air supply to the wand
should remain constant. The Sprayer can close the 3/8” Ball Valve
on the Shutdown Device to stop the pump and position himself to
begin spraying on the desired substrate.
3. If the pump is far from or inaccessible to the Sprayer – the same
instructions as in (2) above apply, but the Sprayer must first hold the
Straight Shot Nozzle into a waste container instead of the Hopper.
4. It is important to remember that the Shutdown Device Needle Valve
should be turned opened before the Sprayer aims the Straight Shot
Nozzle toward the object being coated and it should be closed
only after the fluid flow has been stopped to Straight Shot Nozzle.
This will help avoid unwanted “spurting” or “spitting” of aggregate
onto the surface being coated.
5. At any time during spray operation, the Sprayer can stop the pump
either by closing the 3/8” Ball Valve on the Shutdown Device or
closing the 3/4” Ball Valve (fluid line) on the Straight Shot Nozzle.
